How to Fix Common Notebook Problems
Notebooks are quite portable and convenient to use. You can carry them wherever you go that’s why many people love to use them. Although, once computer issues arise, it can be a bit troublesome. A common problem experienced by notebook users is hard drive failure. Compared to hard drives in desktop, notebook hard drives often bounce while carried or in the car so these laptops become prone to computer crashes during usage. Other common problems include freezes, sudden shutdown or reboot, and blue or black screen.
There can be various causes for these computer issues. If your notebook suddenly shows a blue screen or popularly called Blue Screen of Death, your machine might be experiencing driver conflicts or hardware failure. The blue screen occurs because the laptop stops from rebooting upon detection of threats by Windows. To fix this issue, you can restart your laptop. In some cases though, reinstallation of Windows is necessary.
One of the reasons of sudden shutdown is incompatibility between the new component and your computer system once you’ve upgraded the hardware. To troubleshoot the problem, it would be good to change the hardware. Alternatively, you may opt to remove it from your computer.
However, if you have found out that the problem is not related to the hardware, you can try cleaning the fans. Overheating can be caused by accumulated dust and dirt. You can use a can of compressed air to clean the fans. Additionally, viruses are nasty perpetrators that are quite troublesome in computers. If you’re experiencing freezes and shutdowns, there might be a virus in your notebook. Make sure that you run regular virus scans using a top-notch antivirus program and remove all detected viruses and spyware. Keep the software updated also. For optimum protection, it’s best to turn on the firewall.
Another reason why a computer freezes is full or overloaded memory. Its performance slows down especially if there are many programs running simultaneously. Go to the task manager and close all programs that are not responding. Be sure to save your work to avoid loss of data. You can also defragment the hard drive to clean up memory space.
To fix registry errors, use a good registry cleaner which can perform scans and fix all corrupted and damaged files. A corrupted registry can cause various computer problems so it’s recommended to use a registry cleaner to fix registry issues.
Maintaining your notebook laptop in good condition shouldn’t be a hard thing if you always use it with caution, store it in a safe place, keep it protected from viruses and spyware, and clean it periodically.
