This may be just my view but if you look closely netbooks are invented mainly to offer more portability by keeping the size small and when you see the sale of these netbooks going through the roof in these bad economic times, you would agree that price is also a major factor bringing success to the netbook manufacturers.
Many of us also buy netbooks due to some practical reasons such as, for the purposes of travelling and as a secondary backup computer. Notebooks have been a major hit amongst the people who travel frequently so you are no longer carrying something that strains your shoulder and with the availability of hotspots you can do your regular browsing and emailing on the go. The second reason used by many is to have a netbook like degee as a spare laptop which could be used as a backup machine, so you know all your important data sits in your desktop personal computer or your regular laptop.
Anyway, Netbooks offer greater flexibility when it comes to transferring photos from digital cameras and for business travelers who need VPN and other professional programs.
